What DRUM size is right for me?

The height that works best for you depends on a few factors: Your height (or rather the length of your legs), your flexibility in the hips, and how you want to use it. The more flexible you are, the more likely a lower DRUM is right for you. The taller you are, the more likely a higher DRUM is right for you.

Sounds a little confusing? Don't worry, this isn't exact mathematics. There are only about 4 cm difference between the available heights and you can always adjust the height (and also the firmness) of your DRUM by adding or removing filling.

To give you a more specific idea: Our founder is quite tall (180 cm) and also quite flexible in the hips. She prefers the medium DRUM with a height of 14 cm. If she was less flexible she'd probably go with the 18 cm DRUM. And if she was less tall it would likely be the 10 cm DRUM.

What are your DRUMS and TUBES filled with?

The DRUMS and TUBES are filled with spelt husks that are organic (with certificate) and originate (mostly) from German and Austrian farmers.

They undergo a multi-step treatment before they get to us: they're cleansed to free them from dust, and heated to sterilise them. That's the top-notch treatment for spelt husks and that's how we can be sure you get spelt husks, and spelt husks only (if you know what we mean ...).

What exactly are spelt husks and why do you use them as filling?

Wondering what spelt husks actually are? They basically are a by-product of the production of spelt grains. Unprocessed spelt consists of the husk and the grain. These two are separated in the process of extracting the grain. The husks don't have nutritional value for humans, but instead of disposing them they are used for multiple purposes, including as animal feed or – provided they undergo the top-notch treatment described in the answer above – filling for all sorts of cushions. Upcycling at its best!

Spelt husks have a couple of features that make them particularly valuable to use in cushions: They are hollow which allows some compression when being used. But they are also stable in shape, so they regain shape easily which makes them longlasting as filling. Last but not least they are also breathable, which is always a good thing, right?!

What are the EYE COVERS filled with?

The EYE COVERS are filled with organic flaxseed. We chose flaxseed because of the small grains that adapt nicely to the countour of your face. Another big plus is that they hardly make any noise when moved – which is exactly what's needed in a product that's supposed to help you relax.

What fabric do you use in your products?

Our fabrics are made from 100% cotton and have the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certificate. That means they have been tested for harmful substances and passed all the tests to be certified for direct contact with skin.

The prints on our fabrics are applied by a German printing company that has been around since 1815.

Can I wash my DRUM and TUBE and EYE COVER?

Yes, you can! Even in the washing machine! Here's what we recommend:

You should only wash the covers of our products. And you should wash them as cold as possible to avoid shrinking as much as possible. For the covers of the DRUMS and the TUBES we recommend to wash them at 20°C, and for the EYE COVERS we recommend 30°C.

These are our further recommendations for the covers:
Use mild detergent (like you use for wool, silk etc.).
Wash them inside out.
Put the spinning setting of your washing machine to as low as possible (ideally no more than 400 rpm).
Do not tumble dry them.
Do not dry clean them.

Iron them at medium temperature.

If you wash the covers warmer than what we recommend they will experience notable shrinking. The fabric we use is prewashed which means most of the shrinking has already happened. But a little shrinking potential is still there. (In case you're wondering: Shrinking is absolutely normal for any fabric made of 100% cotton.) If that happens we suggest you simply remove some of the filling to make sure you have the same experience as before.

You should not wash the core that holds the filling. It has not been prewashed and would shrink about 10%. Which means your cover would be too big then...

All our recommendations are also on the care tags for the cover and the core.

What about the BLOCKS?

The cork blocks we use for our BLOCKS come directly from Portugal. The cork used in them is harvested in accordance with sustainable principles. The pretty print they have is applied by a family-run business here in Berlin.
